Product Photo: Final Portfolio

This past semester (Fall 2010) I took a product photography class. As you will see below that it was not the most interesting subject matter but really helped with learning how to light objects. I will be in a Portrait/Fashion Photography class this next semester to develop my photography skills even further. Now I just need to spend hundreds of dollars on flash and lighting equipment now that Mr. Schye will not be rockin' the late night photo sessions with me.

Stop at Buzzed: UW-Stout Housing Staff

The University of Wisconsin- Stout's Housing staff have been preaching to the choir about stopping. The campaign was started the 2010 school year to bring up the drinking stupidity on college campus'. Now it is our time to tell them the same. Please stop at a 'Joyful Buzz' this holiday season.

Not Here!

The 'Not Here!' campaign was created to curb hate, bias, and bullying of students within the UW-Stout population.

Check out the WhereIsPepper post on the campaign

Black Eye: Premium Shiner

Original, Saffron, and Mulberry

Original:
With our original Premium Shiner what you see is what you get. Straight Premium Shiner. No additives, nothin' extra, just an incredibly strong drink to help put hair on your chest.

Customer Warning: You should never look at Black Eye and say to yourself "that looks weak." That would be a serious mistake. You will respect the Premium Shiner and only drink it with class and pride. We have specifically chosen our name for a reason. If you are not careful you will learn the hard way. Would you enjoy waking up staring at the ceiling That is what we thought, now give Black Eye the respect it righfully deserves and remember to drink responsibly.

The Hip Elections Poster

Voting has been around in this country since we got our independence but there has been a slump in voter turnout up until lately. Voting used to be what your parents and grandparents did. The right and need to vote in the younger generation has definitely been pushed much more since the Obama/McCain election in 2008. I believe that pop culture stars are pushing to get the younger generation involved in politics (some who have no clue about anything but its the cool thing to do) and this helps make my generation more politically responsible.

I wanted to make an election poster that was modern and targeted specifically to a more sophisticated crowd. All of the information bubbles are going to a vanishing point/end goal of getting elected. The lines are basically separating the information into parts/lines rather than bullet points. I am working on becoming more experimental with my typography and this seems to be a step in the right direction

With my job at University Housing Design its fantastic because I get a chance to try something totally new on every project. There is always something from my style that pops up in every project (usually the san-serif typeface and geometry) but I am still developing. It is crazy how far I have come since the beginning of the summer, its just splendid and I hope to keep improving (don't we all).

Lets Fly Home

Even though the client was not super thrilled about the poster I still enjoyed the design and found it worth sharing because it is far from my style. It has been far too long since I posted any work. I will have some packaging design up once I have it photographed.

You Are One Huge Dude! (Stout Rugby)

The UW-Stout Rugby team commissioned me to do two posters for them. There were no real specifications other than the slogan 'play as one, win as one'. Wow they are intimidating.

These will be posted the weekends they have games.

Schedule

Zoom.

Water/Funk Posters

My funk band is playing a show at the Waterfront in Menomonie, WI this Thursday and here is the poster I designed (in 10 minutes) because of a time crunch.

We are going with a new printer and they were complaining the black would not turn out well :(

Abridged design with no black and more white space. We also decided to go with the 8.5x11 to save a few bucks.

Yum, Yum's

Yippy-Yippy Yum-Yum, lunch is served

Not exactly sure why I....
1. Took a picture of my food
2. Made a blog post about it

Since this past year I have been eating pretty darn healthy (minus Wingsday at the Waterfront). They guys would always give me a hard tie for coming home to eat for lunch. Well the nagging stopped once they learned how fantastic my meals were compared to their DQ burgers.

Anotha Day, Anotha Style

Currently far from done. As I stated earlier, I want to use a new illustration style for each project.

Bring Me Back

We sometimes find something that brings us back to our childhood and blows are mind. This interactive video did just that for me. It is really pushing the limits on what we find possible to do in todays technological society.

Get Our New Scent Today!

I am currently designing posters for the Student Health Services. They are looking for a Pricelist, H1N1+Flu and Service Hours posters.

Poster 1/3: Displaying the SHS services and products.

Poster 2/3: SHS Anti-Oink Vaccine
The client ended up saying "I am not fond of the Vaccine Poster" so I guess maybe the pig-cologne isn't for everyone. Now I need to figure out what 'not fond' means and what they will be more 'fond' of. Broad comments aren't my favorite.

What A Little Devil I Am

I usually am not this terribly brutal about other peoples designs unless it is Lars' sculpture class and anything goes. There have been many horid design decisions made by administration here at Stout from the logo/quill to the web developer company designing our new site. With such a great design program on campus you would think we could have a slightly attractive identity and website.

I was stalking on Facebook like usual and came across a group discussing a mascot for the school. Don't get me wrong, I think a mascot would be great, but only if he didn't look like a happy idiot. There would most likely be a logo created to go with the new mascot and (as seen below) better not be what it looks like.

I Am Rob. That Is My Name.

Rob really needed a new Facebook profile picture. Lets just say his last one was over 2 years old and no one could recognize him. Here you go Rob, just in case anyone forgot your name and your face.
