This is an old picture but hehe. Cassandra and I sang for a wedding (Dan played guitar and tambourine) a few months ago for a wedding of a couple in Menomonie. This picture was taken on my cell phone during the rehearsal dinner. We met a few grade school girls and this is what we learned.
We are the vampires of love music.

Not Your Average Product Photography
You are probably wondering what all these low-res and dull pictures are for. My oldest sister babysits the three boys next door and this is what happens. Both parent work for Johnson and Johnson so they get a great deal of 'products' from toothbrushes, whitestrips, lotion, and make-up. I went home last week needing to but so 'personal' products and came back with more than I expected....and they were all FREE!

Google Will Soon Own The World!
When will Google stop? Or they may just monopolize every industry and take over the entire world. They do have enough financial backing to buy a country.....maybe North Korea? Possibly then we could have peaceful talks about nuclear weapons.
Google has teamed up with Sony and Intel to build the Google TV. It will be running on the Android operating system and use sites like Hulu, Youtube, and apps for social networking sites. The television is supposed to run like your everyday HDTV as well as many other internet based features. Google has not come out and actually talked about what is in the works but they are possibly working on a Qwerty remote control....just one more item that will confuse those technologically behind the times (aka parents and old folk). Even though there has been no official new released about a great deal of the project details there has been quite a bit leaked to the internet. They control 9/10ths of the internet don't you would think they could delete web pages with information about their products?
I personally think that if they make this work right we will start having tele-puters rather than two separate items. Who watches live TV anyways....thats what Hulu and Tivo are for. I think that it would be great if they added 3D glasses and motion (wii-motes) to the mix....hehe. Oh Google you crazy kids! Just another way they will be incorporating themselves into everday life...we will have Google Home and you can find individual rooms in peoples houses and stalk your neighbors at night or babysit from next door. Just think of the possibilities. Pretty soon they will know whats in your dresser once they introduce the Google boxer line.

Augmented Reality: Is It Really, Real
Augmented Reality from Jim Richardson on Vimeo.
Our next project for Type In Motion class is to create an augmented or hyper(reality). Augmented reality (AR) is a term for a live direct or indirect view of a physical real-world environment whose elements are augmented by virtual computer-generated imagery. This project really gets me excited....oh the possibilities.

Blind Art: What Do We See?
This was my first try at light-graffiti. It was def a blast and a great deal of fun to mess with as well as challenging. I set my shutter speed between 1.5 seconds and as much as 20 at one point. Our photo class assignment was to take an 'action' picture and here is what I decided to try.
Side note (pictures are not Photo-shopped...the color is how the NEF color was recorded).

Great Minds Think (Different)
To explain...the picture below most likely makes no sense at all...so here is the story. I went in to take a psychological survey/test. My roommate is working on a psych project and hoping to get over 100 participants for his experiment. I decided that it would be a fun experience to have them hook me up to electro-magnetic goodies and the fun began.
The first test was to play the video game Portal. Portal is partly a strategy and gravity game for the Xbox 360. Well moving on...I played this game for what seemed to be quite some time and prided myself on getting through many levels.
The second part of the experiment was to organize these (what seemed like hundreds) of color scraps into categories listed on the sheet that I received. I find it safe to say that this is not close to as fun as the game had been. I found it to be quite trivial after 20 seconds (found some pieces were misfits) and decided that since they were playing a game on me that I would do the same. They were watching my reactions and brain waves the whole time. So with this in mind I turned the tables and made them the subjects so I could see their reaction. Who loves organizing a pile of scraps? Not me. So I started spelling out messages and creating pictures. The message below states "Make Art, Eff This" with an angry face to add emphasis.
The cards from the experiment layed out in 'my' fashion. "Make Art, Eff This"
When the experiment was done they basically told me that I was the first subject that was more stimulated during the second task. I guess art students should stay away from psychology experiments or maybe they are just too afraid to confess to being outsmarted by a designer. A little reverse-psychology never hurt anyone did it?

This is my first video created for Typography In Motion class. I am pretty darn happy with how everything turned out. Like always there are a few parts I wish I would have tweaked a little bit more...but I'll live. This is my first real multimedia class other than webdesign and it started off a little bit shaky but has really come along well in the last week alone. I am almost positive that he passed out after finishing his last words or maybe not...he could be an auctioneer. Well hope you enjoy the show.
